Mary Coon

Mary Coon is originally from Syracuse, New York and could not be more excited than to be dancing professionally in her hometown. Mary began her ballet training at Ballet and Dance of Upstate New York under the direction of Kathleen Rathbun. Mary performed in numerous productions choreographed by Mrs. Rathbun including The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Swan Lake, Aladdin, and Sleeping Beauty.

At the age of 16 Mary was accepted into The Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she studied for two years under Bo and Stephanie Spassoff, Natalya Lushina Geiger, Aaron Orza, Justin Allen, and Jody Anderson. In 2017, Mary relocated to Sarasota, Florida to study at the Sarasota Cuban Ballet School. There, Mary had the privilege of studying under Ariel Serrano, Wilmian Hernandez, Delia Ballart, Tania Vergara Perez, as well as Ramona De Saa and Ana Julia Bermudez of the Cuban National Ballet School. Mary rehearsed and preformed principal and soloist roles including Rosa in the full-length production of Flower Festival, Precious Stones from The Sleeping Beauty, the Odalisque Pas De Trois from Le Corsaire, the Goddess of Dawn in The Awakening of Flora, and Snow Pas De Duex and Dew Drop in the Nutcracker.

Mary has attended summer intensives including New York State Summer School of the Arts, The Chautauqua Institution of Dance, The Rock School for Dance Education, The Bolshoi Ballet Academy, BalletMet, and The Sarasota Cuban Ballet School. Mary is very excited for her first season with Syracuse City Ballet.
